I hate the internet.

Two thoughts

based on discussions in one of my courses last year.

First:
“The society that sets us up for boredom and a soul-crushing existence also sets us up for addiction to luxuries like cheap processed foods and consumer goods to hold off depression.”

Second:
a critical Disconnect:

In Civilization: Job/Work = Money = Grocery store = Food.
In Nature/Uncivilization: Work = Food.

The Zen of John McCutcheon

The italicized lines are the chorus to “Kindergarten Wall”, a song I grew up listening to, and which I appreciate more and more the older I get.
Of all you learn here remember this the best:
Take these lessons to heart:

Don’t hurt each other and clean up your mess.
Be peaceful; Finish what you start, take responsibility for your actions.

Take a nap every day, wash before you eat
Rewild, and have plenty of time for relaxation; Take pride in hygiene.

Hold hands, stick together,
Practice Love; bonds of deep friendship are unbreakable.

Look before you cross the street.
Don’t rush into things; take the time to observe.

Remember the seed in the little paper cup:
First the root goes down, and then the plant grows up.

All junctures in the past have been preparations for the present—this moment;
We are products of our formative years, learn lessons and make something of them!
